Outline: Technologies are introduced to assist the blind or vision impaired walk independently through obstacles without collision or fall. The Palmsonar is a palm-attached electronic mobility aid (or ETA: electronic travel aid) which vibrates when objects are in the ultrasonic beam from the aid. You can locate obstacles and the space to be walked through as you scan the beam across the space like a cane. It does not occupy the hand because it is not a hand-held device. You can practice by yourself. The Palmtip is a cane tip of less sticking for a sure and easy cane travel on the surface.
